Jan Jelinek
Stephan Mathieu
Wander

Jan Jelinek (Berlin) has been working since 1998 under different pseudonyms in various contexts: on a new assessment of soul music phrases (as Farben); on a reduced approximation of dancefloor (as Gramm) and, under his own name, on manipulating linear second-long loops from jazz samples. In his ongoing collaborations with artists, Jelinek is concerned with directly connecting the musical and visual aspects. His work with Sarah Morris (EN/OF 004) is shown in the exhibition.

Stephan Mathieu (Saarbrücken) worked in the ’90s as a drummer in the field of improvisation with STOL and with the Butch Morris Conduction Ensemble, among others. Since 1998, he has focused on the digital processing of acoustic events. His work includes numerous recordings, sound installations, collaborations with dancers such as Tobias Rehberger and Darren Almond (EN/OF 003, 011) as well as music for dance and theater.

Wander (Amsterdam) was founded by Frans de Waard and Freek Kinkelaar in 2001 as an extension of the already existing Beequeen project. The music Wander releases takes as its starting point the concept of the minimalist drone, often using the sound of the organ. All records and songs have the same title: Wander. In addition to its five records (including EN/OF 008 with Carsten Höller), Wander has previously made only two public appearances.
