He will be joined by Saba Arat und G\u00f6khan Dene\u00e7 to experiment with the davul, the double-headed drum popular across the Middle East and on the Balkans,\u00a0a forerunner of the Western bass drum. It is struck with a strong mallet on the upper side, hanging from the left shoulder on a strap. On the lower side, it is played with a thin whip, which makes buzzing noises similar to the snare drum.
