Under the name EN/OF, Dutch record label manager Robert Meijer has so far published 16 editions that present collaborations between visual artists and primarily experimental musicians. Each number in the EN/OF series contains a 12″ vinyl and a signed, numbered artwork packaged in a fold-out LP cover, and is issued in a limited edition of 100. The editions EN/OF 001 to 015 and Deluxe I can be seen in an exhibition in the guestroom of the heeresbaeckerei in Kreuzberg from July 9 to August 2, 2003. The exhibition has been organized through the combined efforts of EN/OF, heeresbaeckerei-kultur, and Freunde Guter Musik Berlin, which also presents the accompanying concert program.
For the vernissage on Saturday July 5, 2003, EN/OF visual artists Markus Linnenbrink and Gerwald Rockenschaub open the concert series with a lounge night. Markus Linnenbrink stands onstage with his band Millionaires With Guitars for the second time; his 13-year-old son Julius sits behind the drums. Gerwald Rockenschaub will design the evening as DJ. The series continues on Friday, July 11, with electronic musicians Jan Jelinek, Stephan Mathieu and Wander, who also have works in the exhibition. The closing event on Saturday, August 2, features a joint performance by sound artist Christina Kubisch and electronic musician Boris Hegenbart. This musical finissage is also a preview of upcoming EN/OF editions, which will be designed by Kubisch and Hegenbart.
With these three concerts in conjunction with the EN/OF exhibition, Freunde Guter Musik Berlin continues its long-running series »Works of Music by Visual Artists« which the non-profit group has successfully presented in cooperation with other Berlin and national institutions. At the same time, the concert series inaugurates the 20th anniversary celebrations of Freunde Guter Musik in 2003.
In cooperation with heeresbaeckerei-kultur and EN/OF. With support of Initiative Neue Musik Berlin e.V.
